Book Cover

“The End of the Fucking World” by Charles Forsman is one of my favorite graphic novels of all time, and I was thrilled to be able to choose this book for a cover redesign. The show is relatively dull in terms of it’s use of color, the exception being the bright colors in the main character’s shirt. Because the shirt stands out so much the decision was made to use that as the focal point in my design.

Originally I painted the design of the shirt, including the bright red background and the floral patterns. I’m not the best painter, so some of the artwork looked cluttered and unrefined. The ability to bring the artwork into Illustrator and Procreate gave me the option to refine and edit all of the assets, without having to repaint the entire design. This resulted in a more developed, cohesive composition that was equally balanced and distributed.
